About the Trivia Generator API

Each request delivers a question prompt, an array of multiple-choice choices, the verified answer, and the assigned category. Free plans draw questions from the general category, while paid plans can target categories like literature, history, and science-technology. A secondary lookup endpoint supplies the full list of available categories.

Questions.

Common questions about the Trivia Generator API.

Read the docs →
Do questions come with multiple-choice options ready for a quiz?
Yes. Each response includes the question text, the correct answer, the category classification, and an options array containing both correct and incorrect choices. You can render multiple-choice quiz prompts immediately without generating decoy answers yourself.
How do I find out which trivia categories are available?
You can call the category list endpoint to retrieve the available topic classifications. On paid plans, you can then use those category names to target specific topics when requesting questions.
Can I pull random trivia questions across all topics?
Yes. The category parameter is optional on the question endpoint. If you omit it, Trivia Generator returns a random question drawn from across the entire question catalog.
Can I filter questions by category on the Free plan?
No. Filtering by category requires a paid plan. The Free plan allows you to retrieve random trivia questions across the catalog, but passing a category parameter unlocks on Starter and higher plans.
Which plan fits a quiz app serving 50,000 questions a month?
The Starter plan covers this volume with room to spare. Each request costs 2 credits, so 50,000 questions use 100,000 credits, which is half of Starter's monthly allowance. That works out to about $0.30 per 1,000 calls, compared to 100 questions per month on the Free plan.
