Website Tech Stack Detector API

GET

See the CMS, framework, analytics and hosting behind any website.

Website Tech Stack Detector identifies the technologies a website runs on, such as its CMS, ecommerce platform, JavaScript framework, analytics, CDN and hosting, with categories and a confidence score for each. Paid plans add detected versions, CPE identifiers and a rendered mode that runs the page's JavaScript.

About the Website Tech Stack Detector API

Website Tech Stack Detector fetches the page and matches its response headers, cookies, HTML, meta tags, script URLs, inline scripts and DNS records against a fingerprint set of more than 7,000 technologies, refreshed weekly from an open, community-maintained database. Technologies implied by another (WordPress implies PHP) are marked as implied. Rendered mode loads the page in a headless browser so technologies injected by JavaScript, and those only visible as JavaScript globals, are found too.

What people use it for

Sales Prospecting
Qualify leads by the platform they run on, such as finding Shopify stores or WordPress sites before outreach.
Competitor Research
See which analytics, A/B testing and marketing tools competing sites have installed.
Security Inventory
List the software and versions a site exposes, and match CPE identifiers against vulnerability feeds.
Agency Audits
Profile a prospect's website stack before a redesign or migration proposal.

Questions.

Common questions about the Website Tech Stack Detector API.

Read the docs →
How many technologies can it detect?
More than 7,000 across about 110 categories, including CMSs, ecommerce platforms, JavaScript frameworks and libraries, analytics, tag managers, CDNs, hosting, payment providers and marketing tools. The fingerprint set is refreshed weekly.
What does the Free plan return?
The Free plan returns each detected technology with its name, categories, confidence, website and description. Paid plans add the detected version and CPE identifier, and can use rendered mode.
When should I use rendered mode?
Use render=true for single-page apps and for tools loaded by a tag manager, which only appear after the page's JavaScript runs. Rendered mode also reads JavaScript globals, which is where many library versions come from. It takes a few seconds longer than the default mode.
How is confidence calculated?
Each fingerprint that matches adds its weight, usually 100, capped at 100. A lower value means only a weak signal was found. Technologies with implied set to true were not seen directly but follow from another detection, such as PHP from WordPress.
Why does the result include services like Microsoft 365 or DocuSign?
Those come from the domain's DNS records, such as mail servers and domain-verification TXT records, and show services the company uses rather than software the page runs. Each technology lists the signals that found it in detectedBy, so you can drop entries whose only signal is dns.
How many lookups does the Starter plan cover?
Starter covers about 6,600 lookups a month. At 30 credits per request that is $4.50 per 1,000 lookups, or about $0.0045 per call. The Free plan includes 6 lookups per month for testing.
