A website screenshot and screen capture API. Web Screenshots works by using a headless browser to load the web page and capture a screenshot of the entire page or a specific element. It returns the screenshot as an image. This runs entirely in the cloud, so you don't need to worry about setting up a browser or infrastructure.

Is it cheap enough to capture a screenshot for every URL submitted?

Yes. Each screenshot costs 40 credits, so the Starter plan covers 5,000 captures every month. That works out to about $0.006 per capture or $6.00 per 1,000 screenshots. The Free plan includes 200 credits monthly, which is enough to test with 5 captures.

Can I take full-page captures or set custom dimensions on the Free plan?

No, custom width, custom height, full-page scrolling, and scale factor details are premium features. Any paid plan starting with Starter unlocks them. The Free plan allows testing with default capture settings only.

What image resolutions and formats does the service support?

You can request custom widths and heights from 100 up to 3,840 pixels per dimension. The API also accepts an image format parameter on every plan; paid plans support full-page scrolling captures to document entire web pages.

Do the screenshot download links expire?

Yes. Each response returns a temporary signed download URL alongside an expiration timestamp. If your product needs to retain the captured image permanently, download and host the file in your own storage before the link expires.

Am I allowed to use these screenshots inside a commercial application?

Yes, as long as you subscribe to a paid plan. Commercial use is not permitted on the Free plan. You may display or store the generated screenshots inside your own software, but you cannot resell or redistribute the API directly.

Sent as JSON in the request body. Premium parameters are accepted on every plan but only take effect on plans that include them. Anything not listed here is dropped rather than passed through.

Authentication

Send your key in the x-api-key header. That is the only auth step — no token exchange, and no per-endpoint scope to configure.

401 is the only auth verdict

A 401 means the key is missing, invalid or expired. A 403 means the key is valid but not permitted here — blocked by a key restriction or an IP allow-list. Running out of credits is a 429.

Response — POST /v1/webscreenshots

Every APIVerve endpoint returns the same three top-level keys, so one response handler covers your whole integration: status, error and data. Only data changes shape.

Paths are relative to data. Premium fields are absent rather than zeroed on plans that do not include them, so check for presence instead of comparing to 0.

Response headers

Every response carries your balance, so your own code always knows where it stands without polling anything. All four are exposed to browsers through CORS.

Errors

Read the HTTP status first, then error for the specific reason. The body names the parameter that has to change.

`403`	Key valid, but not permitted here	A key restriction or an IP allow-list — never a bad key.
