Can I generate QR codes for Wi-Fi networks and contact cards?

Yes. In addition to standard text and web links, the API supports specialized encoding types including Wi-Fi configurations and vCard contact cards. Note that advanced types are premium features requiring a paid plan.

Can I embed a company logo inside the QR code?

Yes, on paid plans. You can supply an image URL for your logo, set its relative size between 10% and 50% of the overall QR code width, and define margin spacing around it so the code dots do not overlap.

Are custom colors, logos, and vector exports included on the Free plan?

No. Advanced data types like Wi-Fi and vCard, vector exports such as SVG and WebP, and styling options like custom colors, gradients, dot styles, and logo overlays require a paid subscription. Any paid tier starting with the Starter plan unlocks all styling options.

What size limits apply to the generated QR code and logo?

Paid plans can set image size between 50 and 2048 pixels, while margins can range from 0 to 100 pixels on any plan. On paid plans, center logos must use a relative size between 0.1 and 0.5 of the total QR code width to ensure the pattern scans properly.

Do the generated image download links expire?

Yes. Each response returns a direct download URL alongside an expiration timestamp indicating when the link stops working. You should retrieve and host the generated file in your own storage pipeline before the link expires.

Is it cheap enough to generate a unique QR code for every order?

Yes. Generating a QR code costs 10 credits, which works out to about $0.0015 per code on the Starter plan, or $1.50 per 1,000 codes. Starter includes 20,000 codes per month, while the Free plan provides 20 monthly calls for testing.

Authentication

Send your key in the x-api-key header. That is the only auth step — no token exchange, and no per-endpoint scope to configure.

401 is the only auth verdict

A 401 means the key is missing, invalid or expired. A 403 means the key is valid but not permitted here — blocked by a key restriction or an IP allow-list. Running out of credits is a 429.

Response headers

Every response carries your balance, so your own code always knows where it stands without polling anything. All four are exposed to browsers through CORS.

Errors

Read the HTTP status first, then error for the specific reason. The body names the parameter that has to change.
