Palindrome Checker API

GET

Check whether any word or phrase reads the same backward.

Palindrome Checker tests whether a string reads the same forwards and backwards, with options to ignore casing, spacing, and punctuation. It returns the boolean verdict, the normalized text, the reversed comparison string, and the length of the longest palindromic sequence.

About the Palindrome Checker API

Palindrome Checker works by cleaning and normalizing text according to specified options, then comparing it with its reverse. Also finds the longest palindromic substring using efficient algorithms for additional text analysis.

Questions.

Common questions about the Palindrome Checker API.

Read the docs →
Is it cheap enough to check every text submission?
Yes. Each request uses 2 credits. On the Starter plan, 100,000 checks cost about $0.30 per 1,000 requests, or $0.0003 per check. You can also run up to 100 checks every month on the Free plan.
Do I get the longest palindromic substring on the Free plan?
No. The longest palindromic substring field is a premium feature reserved for paid subscriptions. Any paid plan, starting with Starter, includes this field in the response alongside the basic validation.
Can it validate full sentences that include spaces and punctuation?
Yes. Palindrome Checker normalizes text before evaluating it. By default, it ignores letter case, whitespace, and punctuation marks, so complex phrases like famous sentence palindromes validate correctly.
Can I enforce strict character-for-character matching without normalization?
Yes. You can disable the individual normalization flags for case, spaces, and punctuation. Turning those off forces the check to compare the exact raw string against its exact reverse.
What does the response return if the text is not a palindrome?
The palindrome flag returns false, but you still receive the cleaned text and the reversed text showing what was compared. Paid plans will also return the longest palindromic substring found within the phrase.
