About the Financial Ratios API

Financial Ratios works by computing standard ratio analysis over normalized SEC EDGAR filings (10-Q and 10-K) for US public companies. Every value is derived from the filed income statement, balance sheet and cash-flow figures: profitability (gross, operating, net margin, ROE, ROA), liquidity (current, quick, cash ratio), leverage (debt-to-equity, debt-to-assets, equity multiplier, interest coverage), efficiency (asset, inventory, receivables turnover), cash flow (FCF margin, capex intensity) and per-share (EPS, book value, FCF per share). Data is refreshed continuously from official SEC filings.

Questions.

Common questions about the Financial Ratios API.

Read the docs →
Can I pull historical ratios for previous fiscal years?
Yes, on paid plans you can request specific historical periods using the year and quarter parameters. When omitted, Financial Ratios automatically returns figures from the latest available SEC filing.
Where does the underlying financial data come from?
All metrics are computed directly from official SEC EDGAR filings, specifically 10-K and 10-Q reports. Ratios update continuously as US public companies submit new filings to the SEC.
Are net margin, ROE, and free cash flow included on the Free plan?
No, advanced metrics such as net margin, return on equity, quick ratio, EPS, and free cash flow require a paid subscription. The Free plan provides foundational metrics like gross margin, operating margin, current ratio, and debt-to-equity for latest filings.
How far does the Starter plan go for company ratio lookups?
The Starter plan covers 33,333 ticker lookups each month, which works out to about $0.90 per 1,000 calls. Each request uses 6 credits. You can also evaluate the endpoints using the Free plan, which includes 33 monthly calls.
Can I display these financial ratios in my own commercial software?
Yes, any paid plan permits commercial use inside your own dashboards, screeners, and investor tools. You may not resell or redistribute the raw ratio data as a standalone dataset.
