Questions.

Common questions about the GDP Data API.

Read the docs →
Where does the economic data come from and how fresh is it?
All GDP metrics come from the World Bank. The dataset is updated monthly to reflect official international reporting, providing GDP in current USD, annual growth rates, and per capita figures.
Which countries and date ranges are supported?
You can query any recognized country using standard two-letter or three-letter ISO codes, such as US or GBR. Every plan gets the latest available reporting year; paid plans can access historical economic records back to 1960.
Is it cheap enough to retrieve GDP data for every country profile?
Yes. Each lookup uses 2 credits, which works out to about $0.0003 per call on the Starter plan, or $0.30 per 1,000 calls. The Starter plan includes 100,000 calls each month, while the Free plan provides 100 calls monthly for testing.
Can I query historical years on the Free plan?
No. Filtering by a specific year and retrieving multi-year historical arrays require a paid plan. The Free plan returns only the single latest reported GDP record for a country.
What happens if I do not specify a year?
When the year parameter is omitted, the API returns the most recent available GDP record for the requested country. On paid plans, supported historical years range from 1960 to the present.
Can I display this GDP data in a commercial dashboard?
Yes, commercial usage is permitted on any paid plan. You can incorporate the figures and calculations directly into your software, research platforms, or customer reports, as long as you do not resell or redistribute the raw dataset.
