Questions.

Common questions about the Population Data API.

Read the docs →
Which countries and date ranges can I query?
You can query any country using standard two-letter or three-letter ISO country codes, such as US or USA. Every plan gets the latest year; paid plans can query data from 1960 to the present.
Where does the population data come from and how often is it updated?
The data is sourced directly from the World Bank. Records are updated on a monthly basis to keep demographic figures current.
Are growth rates, life expectancy, and historical records available on the Free plan?
No. The Free plan only returns current high-level country information. Detailed metrics like population counts, growth rates, population density, urban percentages, life expectancy, and specific year queries require a Starter plan or higher.
How far does the Starter plan go for population lookups?
Each query costs 2 credits, giving you 100,000 population lookups each month on the Starter plan. That works out to about $0.30 per 1,000 lookups. The Free plan includes 100 lookups per month to test your integration.
What data is returned if I omit the year parameter?
If you do not specify a year, the query automatically returns the latest available demographic statistics for that country.
Can I use this population data inside a commercial application?
Yes, provided you are on a paid plan. You can display and use demographic data inside your own apps, reports, and dashboards, but you cannot resell or redistribute the raw data as a standalone product.
