Which countries and date ranges are covered?

Global Stock Market covers 36 economies using two-letter ISO country codes. Monthly share price index data spans from 2000 to the present for most covered countries.

Where does the index data come from?

The data is sourced directly from OECD records. Every country is normalized to a baseline of 2015 equals 100, allowing for direct relative performance comparisons across national boundaries.

Can I query historical years and months on the Free plan?

Filtering by specific years and months requires a paid plan. The Free plan provides basic index access, while any paid plan unlocks queries across specific historical dates back to 2000.

Can I request an entire year without specifying a month?

No. On paid plans, when filtering by year, the endpoint requires you to include a valid month integer between 1 and 12. Queries for a specific year will fail if the month parameter is omitted.

Which plan fits 25,000 market index lookups a month?

The Starter plan covers this comfortably. Each call uses 2 credits, so 25,000 lookups require 50,000 credits out of Starter's 200,000 monthly credits. That leaves plenty of room and works out to about $0.0003 per lookup, while the Free plan includes 100 calls per month.

Can I show this index data inside a commercial dashboard?

Yes, as long as you are on any paid plan. You can freely display index comparisons and build analytics inside your own commercial product, but you may not resell or redistribute the raw data as a standalone feed.

Authentication

Send your key in the x-api-key header. That is the only auth step — no token exchange, and no per-endpoint scope to configure.

`Authorization`Alternate	Instead of the above	`Bearer <key>` — for clients that only expose bearer auth. Resolves to the same account and the same billing.

401 is the only auth verdict

A 401 means the key is missing, invalid or expired. A 403 means the key is valid but not permitted here — blocked by a key restriction or an IP allow-list. Running out of credits is a 429.

Response fields

Paths are relative to data. Premium fields are absent rather than zeroed on plans that do not include them, so check for presence instead of comparing to 0.

Response headers

Every response carries your balance, so your own code always knows where it stands without polling anything. All four are exposed to browsers through CORS.

Errors
