Exchange Rate API

GET

Price your products in any customer's local currency.

Exchange Rate looks up the conversion rate between two currency codes across 170+ currencies, with both currency names and the last-updated time. Paid plans add the inverse rate, the pair's 1-day to 1-year change, its 30-day high, low, average and volatility, past dates, and hourly and 30-day daily history.

About the Exchange Rate API

An FX rate API for live forex rates, in one call: pass two currency codes as parameters to receive the current conversion multiplier and an ISO 8601 timestamp showing when the rate refreshed. The response covers over 170 currencies. Each response names both currencies. Paid plans also return the inverse rate for reverse conversions without a second call, and how far the pair has moved over the last day, 7 days, 30 days and year, measured from the rate's date, so a historical lookup reports the moves leading up to that day. The last 30 daily closes are stored per currency, so paid plans also get the pair's 30-day high, low, average and volatility, and history=true returns the closes themselves. On live lookups, hourly=true adds the rate for each of the last 24 hours.

What people use it for

Cross-Border Invoicing
When billing foreign clients, SaaS platforms convert base subscription fees into regional currencies to generate accurate invoices.

Common questions about the Exchange Rate API.

Read the docs →
Which currencies are supported?
More than 170 currencies are supported. You can pair any two supported currency codes to convert between them in a single call.
How frequently are the currency rates updated, and how much history is there?
Rates refresh every few minutes, and each query returns the latest rate for your pair. hourly=true returns the pair's rate for each of the last 24 hours, history=true its last 30 daily closes, and date= looks up any past day back to 1999 for the major currencies.
What would 50,000 currency lookups a month cost me?
At 2 credits per call, 50,000 lookups use 100,000 credits, which fits well within the 200,000 credits on the Starter plan. That works out to about $0.30 per 1,000 calls. The Free plan includes 100 calls each month for testing.
Is the inverse rate or the pair's recent movement included on the Free plan?
No. The Free plan returns the direct rate, both currency names and the update time. The inverse rate, the 1-day, 7-day, 30-day and 1-year change, the 30-day high, low, average and volatility, past-date lookups and the hourly and 30-day history arrays are premium fields on any paid plan.
Can I use these rates in a live customer checkout?
Yes, as long as you are on a paid plan. Commercial use is allowed across all paid tiers when powering features inside your own product, provided you do not resell or redistribute the raw rate data.
